Born and raised in Suffield, Connecticut in an area that is often referred to as Tobacco Valley. Attended Watkinson in Hartford, Connecticut. It was at Suffolk University on Beacon Hill in Boston, Massachusetts that he began honing his skills in the theatre. Transferred to Roanoke College in Salem, Virginia where he was a member of Alpha Psi Omega (The Honors Theatre Society).Jay said in 2007 interview that he is "...forever grateful for his close family who have been supportive through all of these erratic years..."Claims that his stunted English bulldog, Abe, offers him ideas for new stories.Founder of Mercer Films in New York City.
